We all have heard so many diet plans and chemical ways to lose weight. But do any of them really work? Not really. The reality is when you are the average healthy person and you want to lose weight you have to be sensible and approach your plan to lose weight with common sense. Here are a few simple and natural ways to achieve your goal.

  1. Write down in black and white what you wish to achieve. For example, I want to lose 10 pounds before the summer is here.
  2. Now look at what you have written. Is it realistic? Are you willing to do what you must to lose 10 pounds in a natural and healthy way? If yes then keep going to number 3. If no then rethink your goal.
  3. What do you have to do to lose 10 pounds in 8 weeks? Do you know the answer? Have you a need to speak to your doctor first? I can tell you right here and now, the best way to lose weight is to stop eating! Plan out what you will allow yourself to eat. You know yourself better than anyone else. Do you always sneak chocolate while watching TV? Then either stop buying chocolate all together (unrealistic) or change the activity. If you are prone to eating something while watching TV then start going to a class during the time you would normally watch TV. Go for a walk. Even better go for a run. Drink water, if you need to crunch something between your teeth then crush some ice and put it in a glass of water and eat ice while you watch TV. None of us can do something every night. Be realistic. If you just can’t pull yourself away from the TV then try the ice trick. If you can, try to limit the amount of time you sit in front of the TV or computer.
  4. Again look each day at your goal. When you sit down to eat your meal, only eat half of it. Even if you feel hungry now you won’t feel hungry in 20 minutes. Try it. No one needs more than a fistful of food at a meal. When you plan your meal think a bit first. If you usually use 4 potatoes to fix 1 serving of mashed potatoes then use 2 and if it doesn’t look like enough in the pot, then use a smaller pot. No one needs more than 250 grams of meat at a meal. Start thinking about how much you eat. Write it down. You might be surprised at how much you are eating without even realizing it.
  5. Make a plan and promise yourself to stick to eat. Again be realistic.
  6. Start moving your body. Walk, stretch, and bend. Go swim. Go for a nice walk. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to lose weight. In fact just the opposite is true. You should save money. TV costs electricity. Less food means less bought at the grocery. Never go to the grocery store hungry and always make a list and don’t buy anything that is not on the list. You have a mission!
  7. Last thing, to lose weight be realistic. Be true to yourself! Good Luck!
